Not really word of the day but it will do: Putney Sardine

November 24, 2005 on 9:40 am | In Madness | No Comments

Ok, I made this one up, I admit it:

A Putney sardine is someone who absolutely must get on the train and squeezes themselves in rudely, even when the train is obviously already full and everyone else is hoping that they don’t have to breathe for the next five minutes. It’s at this point that the Putney sardine will bundle themselves forcefully into the carriage.

Those of you who’ve had the misfortunte to take a peak-hour train through Putney will know what I’m talking about here.

Early Xbox360 crashes

Lots of reports coming in that the early Xbox360′s crash quite a bit. Ah.

My money is, I think, going to be on the built-in Microsoft Dashboard thing, as apparently the crashes are across all games. At least, that’s the optimistic view. The pessimistic view is that the first load of hardware has some manufacturing defects (or ‘hardware bugs’).

In a word, oops. Just as well they didn’t have that large a supply of them anyway…

HAL-like HDTV video projector fromLG

Just like HAL!

The LG AN110 Video Projector – It does HTDV (1080i) and mounts directly onto your well if you want. But the best thing is that it really looks like HAL from the film 2001: A Space Odessy. Brilliant!

Updated: Direct link to press release from LG UK – allegedly out “September 2005″ so presumably should be here Real Soon Now.

I didn’t believe this was a word until I looked it up!

LaCie Brick Desktop Hard Drive 500GBLaCie Brick Mobile Hard Drive 120GB

The crazy people at LaCie are soon to launch the Brick Desktop Hard Drive, a brilliant, stackable external hard drive system. I believe they even automatically work together when stacked – how’s that for expandable storage? They even come in a slimline ‘mobile’ version (pictured above right).

Crazy, but good crazy.
