Yes, good old ebay comes to the rescue when trying to find a classic
mac to ‘refit’ with new parts. Even today, searching for ‘mac classic’
on ebay UK turns up some likely targets.
A few short days later and I was picking up a lovely Mac SE for under a tenner – whoo!

Yes, it even still worked – after a fashion; I didn’t actually have any
software for it… or a mouse, or keyboard, but then it doesn’t matter
as sadly it’s all going to get ripped out! (ha ha haaaaaa)

So, now to sort out what’s going to go in it… [continued tomorrow!]

schtop, schtop! That mac isn’t ready yet
Although I must admit its tempting to buy another – they’re very cute and just shockingly cheap to pick up on ebay now.

I think we need to ‘de-yellow-ise’ it too.

It’s coming out a bit yellow in the pictures due to my relatively naff camera phone and the yellow-ish lighting in my office. But it is a *little* yellow in reality.
The problem is that old plastic does discolour with age and there’s basically not anythign that can be done about it, other than painting it… and I don’t think that would look very good.
But I rather like the idea that a seemingly battered old Mac is actually a cunning media jukebox!
It may confuse potential theives, after all.
